Pinterest...friend or foe?

I just went onto Pinterest and was shocked? Awed?  Amazed?  Dumbfounded?...as to how many of my journal pieces were pinned.  I think that maybe I should be flattered, but there is something about having my art just floating around in cyberspace that makes me wonder if my art is being enjoyed or misused.  What are your thoughts on this; I'm very curious to see if I'm over reacting or just being paranoid.

Hi Sandee
I think you should be proud! People obviously love your work and feel inspired by it! I love Pinterest and I know many of my pieces float around there too and I have repinned numerous pieces of art by others that inspire me. Isn't that what Pinterest is all about? Pinboards to give us inspiration....
No doubt there are always punters out there that will misuse what they find, break copyright law and possibly even claim work of others as their own. To me they are just sad people that obviously lack the imagination and creativity to create their own stuff. I just feel sorry for them.
Anyway, that's just my two pence worth, I'll be interested to see what others say.
Hugs from across the pond....

I "dis joined" about a month ago. I couldn't keep up with all the boards!

Your question makes it clear you actually THINK abut it. YEAY for you!!! You obviously missed the commotion that was all around about Pinterest and copyright... I don't want to upset you or something, but here's are a few of the (numerous) links that tells you more...

and one more, to ease your mind...

(I found this all out because I had an interview about art and copyright with a copyright lawyer for the first issue of FEATURING)

You decide for yourself what to do - good luck!

I've had a few of my photos pinned and have mixed feelings (a little upset because it doesn't say original photo by me; a little pleased because someone liked it enough to go to my blog and pin it). All considered, I like Pinterest because I like the inspiration and information I get from it.

I LOVE pinterest. I get so many great teaching resources!!!! And I am inspired too. All the pins SHOULD link back to you -- so it's just extra exposure for you and your art. But you know, sadly, I'd rather play on pinterest than make my own art. But right now, it makes me WAY happier than making my own art. Right now.
